Our last two wickets put on 67, of which Hutton and Sanderson scored 4 - which highlights what a great innings this must have been from Rossington.

Yes some great six hitting from Rossington.

We end day 2 with a lead of 321 with 4 wickets in hand - a strong position.

Gloucs look set for 20 points but a bad day for Sussex with Derbyshire piling up the runs.

A great few days for Northants with an inspiration performance from our Captain. Am pretty we will seal the win. Wonder what we will need from the last game in terms of points...

If we win and Sussex win their current match we will need 9 points. If Sussex do not win they will be out of the equation but Glamorgan may be able to catch us if they win their current match - in that scenario we would need 4 points.

Sussex have lost, but Glamorgan are likely to win tomorrow. Hopefully we can win too! So the points I mentioned above are likely to be correct with us needing 4 more points and Gloucs 9.

An inability to gather 4 more points in Bristol might suggest we could again struggle to exist in Div 1, but the current forecast for next next week isn't exactly sparkling, though hopefully allowing sufficient playing time between the showers to achieve the likely necessary currency.

The purely defensive batting by Durham during the latter stages last night, with eight down, seemed unduly negative, considering, with a day still to go, they had no chance of saving, let alone winning the game. Perhaps of more concern in the circumstances, we never looked like finishing the job in three days, being reduced to having to take the second new ball.
