Personally I feel that captaining a county these days in all three formats is a big ask and a considerable strain on any cricketer. To me it would make sense for Wakely to be one-day captain and to choose a different CC captain, for several reasons. He is a better one day player than cc player and is worth his place as a batsman, whereas he would have to fight for his place in the cc team as a batsman, being chosen on merit rather than being an automatic choice as captain.

The reduced workload re captaincy may also see an improvement in his form and a return to the "freshness" his captaincy has lacked this year. I think he's been a very good captain of the team over the last few years and it may be an overeaction to simply take away the captaincy in all forms just based on this year.
