Finally, Rob Newton is back and, unsurprisingly, decidedly rusty after his long absence (8 runs this morning from 39 deliveries).

From 68-8 yesterday, their last two wickets almost doubled the score, such a familiar theme this season, and often proving, as we've seen, very costly in bowler friendly conditions. The forecast is another issue, but let's hope to see some application from the top order before the storm!

At least we have a first innings lead, but this effort is probably no more than we could have expected. If these conditions continue to prevail, it's mostly likely anyone's game, really!

One good partnership, between Levi and Rossington, without which we might well have been looking at a first innings deficit. Obviously bowler-friendly conditions, but yet again, batting points none out of five.

I agree, it could go either way. Maybe Zaib will get a bowl?

The currency of batting points has become almost a forgotten concept in the context of our deep-seated batting frailties this season, particularly with the top order where it really matters. It now seems a major achievement if anyone can just stay at the crease for any meaningful length of time.

Even Zaib might start to wonder why he's playing if he doesn't soon get a bowl!

Oh, dear, what a dreary place Bristol can be, and just our luck (apart from the home side, of course) that we should have to pitch up in the South West during this particular period of unsettled weather!
