Not really unexpected with his recent injury problems, but still sad to hear. He was like one of those bowlers I used to come across in the days (long ago) of my club cricket. Looks absolutely harmless and rather unathletic, might seem easy to play for a little while, then you found yourself walking back to the pavilion wondering just what had happened. Add in his more than useful batting and excellent fielding and that made one fine allround cricketer. Not to be forgotten is that he captain England once, a brief period in charge as rain ended play after just a few balls bowled, but it is in the book. He seems to have been a very popular player around the country with both players and spectators, looks good umpire material to me. Thanks for all your efforts for county and country Tredders
