No one seems to have been able to make any comment about the last game - not surprising really given the performance. Hoping for better this week.
Interesting 13 man squad with the omission of TvdG, Carey, Selman and Reingold and inclusion of Cullen, J Cooke and Taylor. Hopefully Smith does not get injured prior to the game as assume him, Hogan and McIlroy will be the main seamers. Wonder if TvdG's absence has any connotations?
Question then is who is the 5th bowler in addition to Salter. Guess they may look at the pitch given the relatively dry weather we have had, although our potential spin attack is not the most threatening. Two from J Cooke, Cullen, Taylor and Douthwaite.
Other big question is who bats 3?

Whoever is chosen, the batting looks a bit thin. Option1 Cullen at 3 with Douthwaite at 7 with instructions not to bowl. Option 2 Douthwaite at 3 and Joe Cooke at 7. Option 3 Carlson to captain, Cullen to keep wicket and Chris Cooke to relax.
To be fair to him McIlroy has to play. He has something to prove and does provide variety. Taylor to play instead of Cooke if the wicket might take spin.
Time for a lie down today and to hide be hi Ind the sofa from tomorrow.
Good luck to the team. After all, if it wasn't for the players (and coaches) we wouldn't be here!!

I've reached the stage where I just look at the end of the day at the score. Difficult to watch the carnage ball-by-ball. Hoping for a turn around this week but as you say, the batting looks paper thin. Tissue paper at that.

Hopefully the tissue paper will be steel reinforced and our bowlers will do amazing things like take wickets.
Tempting to drop Carlson who seems to have struck a sticky patch but I hope he reaches his 1000 runs. He will play for England one day.

Talk about stacking the batting. Effectively 3 bowlers and some bits and pieces. Will need a big 1st innings score.

Even if Surrey only bat once Hogan likely to face a heavy workload once again. What he gives to Glammy at his age is a massive credit to him.

Unfortunately the weather is pretty good here and is forecast to stay so.

Cooke looking like a wicket on two legs on a very flat pitch. Seems unnecessary to play so many batting all rounders on such a batter friendly pitch. Would understand playing an extra spinner if we had two frontline spinners. Have been some playing in 2nds so why not bring one of them in?

125/1 at lunch is better than we might have hoped for. Not a pitch to be a bowler on. Cooke just needs to temper his desire to have a swish outside off stump.

Bit of good fortune earlier on but Cooke and Lloyd stil there. Not a pitch that you really want to have so few specialist bowlers on.

One loose shot too many from Cooke but some runs on the board. Far from convinced he is a number 3.
Noone can really moan about 238/2 at tea. Byrom seems to be gaining confidence after very scratchy performances in his earlier innings for Glamorgan. Would much rather see him in the top 3.

Surprised to hear that 120 is Lloyd's best score. Well done and need to keep going especially now Byrom just lost patience.

Good knock from Lloyd but poor decision-making getting out having just lost Byrom and new ball just 3 1/2 overs away.

Excellent from Carlson and Cooke when things could have gone wrong. Overall one of our better days of the summer. Need to make 500+ and see if can out some pressure on Surrey batsmen. However, afraid we haven't selected an attack to do it.

A rare ' day ' for Glamorgan. Winning the toss proved to be the best thing Cooke has done for some time. A batsman friendly pitch, coupled with some indifferent Surrey bowling, gave Glam the chance to amass a useful score. The dismissals of Byrom and Lloyd were inexcusable under the circumstances. I don't understand the thinking behind the shots they played. Helping Surrey to take two wickets was surely not in the long term interest of their own team. But what do I know.
I don't see Glam's bowling attack proving too strong for Surrey on what is a featherbed pitch.
Well done to Lloyd for his century.
