Lloyd opening the bowling again is strange. Hopefully pays off but says little for how Cooke thinks about Harris and Weighell.

i think we should have batted til lunch

or maybe even tea
Poor bowling from Hogan. This experiment with Lloyd is an abject failure. Get the proper bowlers on.

Bowling is becoming more of a concern than the batting. No specialist spinner and no pace bowler who looks like posing much of a threat on the pitches we have faced especially in the 2nd innings. Lloyd opening the bowling says it all!

While a draw looks the most likely outcome, if it was a bet between a Glamorgan or a Northants win, Northants are favourites.

Am afraid the Northants win is starting to look more likely than the draw. The availability of Neser and Smith is looking more important than Labuschagne.

northants are now odds on i think

they are coasting ... i reckon they will do it with 8 overs to spare

we will never declare a second innings again

I wonder if we will get "there were more positives than negatives" after this likely defeat?

Looks like Glamorgan have given up. Nothing much they can do now. It was the bowling in the first 20 overs of the innings that did the damage.

Am less and less impressed with Weighell. As well as bowling poorly he has been poor in the field. Why did we give him a 2 year contract with his history?????????

Embarrassing. Maybe we should have seen this coming when you consider we’re opening with Lloyd, we don’t have a recognised spinner and Douthwaite always goes for plenty.

Not with this bowling attack.

If only Smith had bowled

Our mistake was declaring - there was never a chance of getting 10 wickets in 80 overs.

Glamorgan would still be batting now had they not declared.

You may be right about Smith, but if as a Glamorgan supporter, you don't believe that in the next couple of weeks we can find some better bowling options than was on show today, it is going to be a very long season. Against Yorkshire we were fortunate in the first innings that the batsmen found ways to get themselves out but since then we have been toothless. The nature of the pitches does not help but we give away far too many easy runs.

It would help if the wicket for the Kent game offered something for the bowlers on day 4
Headingly, Cardiff and Northants today have all been bowlers graveyards by day 4 which is not normal for April.
The writing was on the wall this morning the way our batsmen toyed with their attack - and with Northants subsequently using the heavy roller it was virtually impossible to get wickets other than from batsmen error.
Allied with short boundaries in vital areas (championship wickets are now located on the edges of squares) as The Hundred and Blast will demand the central T.V. strips, the overriding lesson to be learnt from today’s game, was, that it was an ill judged declaration when, Glammy could have walked away with a strong, dominating draw and 15 points after being inserted.

A demoralising loss has resulted.
Lessons learned :-
(1) David Lloyd taking the new ball should not be repeated.
(2) We lack a containing spinner
(3) Weighell should not field on the boundary.
(4) Balbirnie should not play red ball cricket
(5) Captaincy overall was poor.

Kent have started the season poorly, but are a better team than their results show.
