We obviously need Neser and Labuschagne as quickly as possible.

Labuschagne's bowling will give us more balance, as well as him strengthening the batting of course.

Marnus has a FC bowling average of 44. He will not be the containing spinner we need on the dry pitches we are getting. May see Salter coming in. Prem only bowled 4.2 overs in the last 2nd team game.

Well, we obviously have space for a specialist spinner if the pitch demands it. Neser can bat at 8 I'm sure, so Douthwaite could be expendable on a decent pitch. Especially as the domestic batsmen are doing ok this season.

Would be between Taylor and Douthwaite as to who offers more with the bat. Personally I think Douthwaite is technically the better batsman but I assume the team think Taylor is. Not much in it.

Usual Glam - give contracts to anyone....

Disagree with those that say we shouldn't have declared. What a load of tosh!
You've got to try and win games and setting a team 350 in the 4th innings is fair enough.

Of course, bowling so badly you let the other side get those runs easily is not....

On the plus side, we deserved to beat Yorkshire, Played OK against Sussex, and could have beaten Northants. No 3 day tumpings like other years yet.

Players - Carlson looks good, Lloyd looks good, Cooke looks good. Selman - hmm, Balbirnie - hmmm, Weighell - all not so good

Agree about declaration.
Thought we batted poorly in the Sussex game. Didn't bowl well either. Flat track and they really only had one effective bowler. Should have been a draw.

Not sure why Weighall is getting a hard time I thought he bowled better than Harris. I thought Harris looked really off the pace.

A disappointing defeat after being on top for most of the game. The stand between their South Africans Parnell and Berg stopped Glammy declaring on Saturday setting a total north of 400. Of the three possible results I agree a Northants win was always on the cards.

Plenty said on here about Weighill, his debut could hardly have gone worse. Let`s see what he`s like on a wicket that is not a bowlers graveyard like the two he has had so far. OK a concern perhaps why did Durham let him go but their seam attack is pretty good, Rushworth as good as any and they have caused problems to Notts Essex and Derbys this season, perhaps on more seamer friendly wickets.

Harris has played 1 game this year for Middx 2s v a pretty weak Kent Sussex combined side. Although he took five wickets in the game he had 3/7 off something 6 overs so perhaps needs time bowling in the middle. He is likely to be a long way down the list at Middx so don`t expect too much.

Balbirnie, it looks like MM and HM took the decision to go Aussie re overseas in the knowledge ML and MN would miss the first two games. When it became apparent it would be three due to Queensland`s success it looks like Glammy sought alternatives and I guess there was not much else available. As pointed out on here Balbirnie`s has not played much red ball cricket in recent years. Another player who that applies to is Ingram who the Glammy website says is the deputy overseas to Marnus for all forms of the game including red ball. Last seen on a pitch March 3rd in Pakistan so why didn`t we turn to him ?

Last one if I can give my humble opinion on another popular recent topic, Edward Bevan. Radio Wales signal is rubbish up here, however pre internet it was best if not only way to follow Glammy`s fortunes. I don`t listen now but back in the 80s til the mid noughties spent many a Sunday afternoon enjoying a little bit of Wales being brought into my home by Edward Bevan and Don Shephard of which I will always have fond memories. There was a Yorshireman Martin somebody who I enjoyed too. Of course part of the fun then was EB saying " he`s hit that for 6" followed shortly afterwards "oh he`s been caught" or the reverse `he`s going to be caught` and of course the ball sailed out of the ground. Great memories however listening to the Sunday run chase at Canterbury, the winning runs at Taunton and to hear these events called home by their West Wales voices, EB will always be in credit with me and I wish him well.

I think Ingram is stuck in South Africxa because of COVID and there variants.

As far as EB is concerned, he may be fine when you are just listening to the radio but I would not expect what he says to bear all that much relation to what is actually happening. That has been shown when we now have the pictures.

Miserable in Cardiff today but the forecast for the next 4 days looks a lot better. No squad yet announced for tomorrow. I wonder if they are thinking about Neser?
