Had a smile yesterday in this age of clean living, fitness programmed modern professional sportman to see two Glammy boys in Canterbury High Street smoking.
Disappointing. Carey?

Definitely hope to see Walker and/or Szymanski playing in some of the remaining T20s.

Good to see the 2nds have another game - this time a 4 day match versus a combined Kent/Northants side.

Brown out for 85 and Carlson 61.

Interesting that neither Douthwaite or Lawlor are playing. Presume injured as would expect them to want to keep pushing to play in one of the remaining Championship games. Cullen did not look terribly convincing at 3.

Some must be playing for contract renewal, particularly Morgan.

Some interesting developments today:
- Root extends contract until end of 2022
- 2nd XI fixtures announced.

No more 2nd XI trophy I assume on the basis that more "2nd XI" players will be playing in the one-day cup this year. As a result only one 2nd XI friendly during the 1st XI 50-over competition. To make up the calendar, Championship games extended to 4 days. It will be interesting to see how many matches last 4 days. There will be two factors primarily at work:
1. The quality of the batting
2. The quality of the pitches at 2nd team grounds

It will certainly help batsmen develop the skill of batting longer but I wonder if there are now too many pressures pushing things in the other direction? They will be playing twenty T20 matches.
