Wickets galore for Smith who can`t do much more to get picked.
Could argue that Smith should be brought straight back in given he was the most economical of the bowlers (who bowled more than 6 balls) in the T20 last season:
RAJ Smith 7.50 runs/over
AG Salter 7.70
CA Ingram 8.01
GG Wagg 8.74
MG Hogan 9.04
CAJ Meschede 9.29
T van der Gugten 10.00
He also had the lowest bowling average.

2s going along serenely at 337/6. 88 for Reingold (who? you may ask) and 63 for Douthwaite. Smith 51 no off just 55 balls with eight 4s and two 6s going to his 50 with a six. Don't quite understand why he is not down in Hove.

Smith is obviously being eased back towards the first team following his groin injury. Given his injury record, that has to be the right decision. Suspect we will see him next week.

2nd XI game can be viewed again today on line. Declared overnight at 372/8. Have been some rain interruptions and MCCYC currently 72/1, Douthwaite with the wicket. Smith has bowled 8 overs and will hopefully stay fit.

Steady stream of unfamiliar faces in the 2s - Subhan currently bowling.

Not quite sure why Machado, who has played for Glamorgan 2s all season, is playing for MCCYC this week.

Connor Brown has moved to 50. He is someone who I feel was discarded rather quickly and could fill the other opener spot with Selman. He has a nice mix of defence and aggression and hopefully has learnt more since his last outing in the 1st team. He has scored centuries in the previous two 3 day games the 2s played according to CricInfo including 162 no.

Have just spotted that the 2nds have reached the semi-finals of their T20 competition and play Notts 2nds at Arundel at 10:30 next Thrusday with the final at 5pm. The other semi is between Hants and Durham. Good of the website to keep us informed!

The 1sts play at Canterbury on Wednesday night and Chelmsford on Friday night so all the players will be in the same area of the country. Will be interesting to see who plays in which games seeing as we are out the Blast competition.

Well done to the players and coaches concerned.

Perhaps an indication of how closely success in the main competition is linked to the performances of the overseas players.

True in some cases but a number at the top of the table have got their because of their home players.

Top 4 North

Lancs - Faulkner and Maxwell
Notts _ Christian and Wasim, not such a strong case
Worcs - Gupthill and Parnell
Durham - Darcy Short

Top 4 South

Sussex - Carey and Khan with plenty of other talent some like Topley and Mills T20 specialists.
Middx - AB and Rahmen
Kent - Nabi and Milne
Someret - Babar and Taylor although Babar not done as much as Banton.

The above have played match winning roles and given platforms, yes, for good domestic players to do well.

Bottom teams such as Yorks, Surrey, Essex and Northants have not had the same match winning individual performances as those listed above, although none as bad as good old Glammy.

All I am saying is that you cannot be at the top of the table on the back of your overseas players alone. However if they do not perform you are severely handicapped. Watching Zaman today I was not sure how much he was committed to the cause. I did not expect much more from Marsh after a lay off. However it was a poor shot he got out to.

After the miserable time the 1st team have had in T20 this season it would be great for the 2nds to come out on top.

Notts, Hants and Durham also involved. Durham have a 1st team T20 that day so should not have any 1st team players involved. Notts and Hants have no game on Wed or Thurs but both are playing at home on Fri night so have the ability to field some 1st team players on Thursday. Both have fielded a number of 1st team players during the 2nd team competition this season.

Glamorgan are playing Wed and Fri so are limited as to who could play on Thursday, but they are all in the South East of England. The forecast for Wed looks pretty miserable and if the game is rained off you might think Marsh would want some time in the middle. Not sure where Hogan is with his niggle but Smith and Carey might also want a run out although they may want to wrap Smith up with his injury problems. Douthwaite could certainly play on Thursday and players such as Lawlor, Morgan and Taylor I am sure will play.
The players I think will play on Thursday:
Selman
Lawlor
Hemphrey
Cullen
Brown
Douthwaite
Morgan
Taylor
Sisodiya
Walker
Szymanski
May be Carlson
May be Smith but less likely
and then there are the others who have been trialling - Reingold, Cooke

Some players with good performances in this competition behind them so hopefully they can bring it home and if they do maybe it will get some coverage on the website :)

Heading off for a couple of days in East Kent and taking the game in Wednesday, BBC weather looks very nice for tomorrow but Wednesday looks bad and seems to be getting worse. Grounds for optimism Glammy fans, due to our good record in London I cannot remember Mrs Exile seeing us lose. Let`s hope there is a full game and that run continues. Pretty slim basis for our recovery I know but fingers crossed.
