He's Australian born, but been based in London for a while. Recommended to the club by a certain M.Hogan.

Hopefully the 2s can keep Kent in the field all day - definitely the best place to be is in the pavilion with a cold drink.
Days like this make a nonsens of forcing batsmen to wear helmets even against spin bowling.

Good to see Brown in the runs - currently 47 no at lunch. I'm disappointed he did not kick on more after his early games where he opened the batting.

Another failure for Meschede who can't buy a decent score.

He is probably fortunate that he is under contract until the end of next season.

If we ever play against Jersey or Norway, that will be a comfort. ;)

He is one of a number of similar players we have: Wagg, Douthwaite, Smith and he is probably at the bottom in the pecking order when Smith fit.

Good effort from the batsmen today and look like they have secured the draw. Brown 101 no and Taylor 66 no.

2nds playing two T20s in Southampton today. I assume there will be few first team players involved trying to get some runs under their belt. Obviously the two most in need are Ingram and Zaman but I doubt they will go.
Hopefully Carlson, Meschede and Smith, who were all key to our good run last season, will be involved and find some form. I was slightly surprised that Sisodiya played for Cardiff on Saturday ahead of Carlson although he performed well for his club. Given that both came through Cardiff's system from the time they were under 9 it seems stupid that they should not be rewarded for that work and be able to play both of them.

Taylor doing a great job with the ball - figures so far of 2-0-8-2 with the key wickets of Vince and Dawson.
Hants currently 75/4 off 12.2.
Just noticed that Chris Wood also in the Hants XI.

Meschede not bowling again today so assume he must have some problem.

Chasing 154. Good test with Wood, Fuller and Dawson in their attack. Meschede going along quite nicely with 42 off 37 but Carlson out scoring just 16 from 19 balls. Currently 77/3 off 12.

Came up 12 runs short despite 34 from 17 balls at the end. Innings seems to have stalled in the middle overs.
The 2nd game has started and we are 27/1 off 4.2 - only change is Szymanski for Walker.

A recovery by Douthwaite with 44* off 26 balls and a cameo at the end by Meschede with 25* off 10 have allowed the 2nds to post 159/6 having been 60/4 off 10. Taylor also scored 41 off 37.

Douthwaite has a had a good day with the bat having also scored 34* off 17 in the first game and Meschede may have come into contention for a batting slot having scored 48 off 43 in the first game. Might be easier for him to get in if he was also bowling.
Lawlor hasn't had a great day with scores of 10 and 1 and Carlson continues to struggle with scores of 16 and 14.
