Be interesting to see if Onions and Stokes play for Durham, who are usually strong at home. Their demotion being well documented but they have won a lot of friends around the country for being a happy side playing fair and to win. For example a young lad being given a Durham Jets cap, signed by the whole team, at Swansea as a thank you for helping out a fielder retrieve the ball from beyond the rope. Da iawn indeed.
After we fielded a strong two xi at Neath this week it would have not done anyone harm. Bumble got a ton and Waggy played again en route back to the first xi.
Another win will see us move a little closer to Kent while Durham, who had a fighting draw at Canterbury last week will surely clear their deficit with a draw. After the thriller in Swansea it should be another good one.
Our first visit to the Riverside since the t20 qf in 2008. This is our 5th cc visit, with 4 wins in 96, 02, 03 and 04 and a draw in 98. We were the 13th fc opposition to visit there and the 11th county in 96, the ground staging twos cricket in 95 whilst the ground was being built. Middlesex twos with two future international coaches playing...one facing Frankyn Rose in the first over!

Hard to believe this fixture goes all the way back to mc days in 1905 with home and away matches then and in 1906. The matches there in West Hartlepool by their famous rugby ground and Sunderland.
This should be a popular trip as our visits have been rare...and a great part of the world to visit. Chester-le-Street not only smallest place with a county fc hq let alone an international ground...also has 2 fc venues. Ropery Lane their old ground now has their mccu fixture. Nice ground it is too, the 2 settings as close as Hoovers and Hills Plymouth or the Diamond and Radyr.
Be great to hear from anyone there. 1st of 3 cc matches before the t20 break...2 wins could well tee up a run in effecting the promotion picture.
The last cc visit had Roger Skyrme scoring...
